Producer Incentives
Conservation Practices
The Innovative Agriculture and Marketing Partnership for Idaho (IAMP) is a public, private, and tribal partnership increasing the adoption of conservation practices that improve soil health and farm productivity — and building markets for the producers who adopt them.
Producers of Idaho’s seven commodities — barley, beef, chickpeas, hops, potatoes, sugar beets, and wheat — can enroll to receive incentives for the practices below. Each links to a detailed description and, where applicable, its associated NRCS conservation practice.

Conservation Crop Rotation
Diversify your crop rotation to build healthier soil and naturally break pest and weed cycles.
Crop diversity
Interseeding
Plant a second crop alongside your cash crop to fix nitrogen and use light, water, and nutrients more efficiently.
Tillage & residue
No-Till / Direct Seed
Plant directly into last season's residue, leaving the soil largely undisturbed.
Soil amendments
Biochar Application
A stable, carbon-rich amendment that helps soil hold more water and nutrients.
Crop diversity
Cover Crop
Crops grown between cash crops to keep living roots in the ground year-round.
Tillage & residue
Reduced Tillage
Fewer, lighter tillage passes that leave more protective residue on the surface.
Grazing
Prescribed Grazing
Manage grazing timing, intensity, and duration to keep forage and soils healthy.
Nutrient management
Nutrient Management — Compost / Manure
Use compost or manure under a nutrient plan to build soil and cut synthetic fertilizer.
Nutrient management
Nutrient Management — N Reduction
Apply nutrients at the right rate, source, timing, and placement — using less nitrogen.
